Teachers unions’ main goal is for their members to teach the fewest days possible for the maximum amount of pay and benefits. If you doubt this, look at the school calendar and the pay and benefits of teachers. While most individual teachers care about the kids, teachers unions clearly do not. And the rest of us are the losers. If we were to start the education system from square one today, it would end up looking far different. So why don’t we? It’s only the future we’re talking about.
