Big, Bad Oil

As if on cue, the president is calling on Congress to end subsidies for the oil companies. “You can either stand up for the oil companies, or you can stand up for the American people,” our demagogue in chief snarled.

I don’t really have a problem with cutting the subsidies (though there may be some competitive reason for them), but if we’re going to end subsidies for oil, let’s go all the way and end them for solar, wind, and electric cars, too. Of course, Mr. Obama’s cronies at places like Solyndra might not be too happy. But I’m game if he is.
