The other day I saw a poll that says many Americans prefer Barack Obama over Mitt Romney because he is supposedly more “eloquent,” more “likable,” or “understands my problems better.” With unemployment over 8 percent for 43 straight months, gas stuck at over $4 a gallon (at least in Mr. Obama’s Chicago), and the national debt over $16 trillion, I almost despair when I see such polls. Are these the criteria by which Americans decide whether we are to remain a free and prosperous nation?
