Budget

Well, better late than never, I guess. The good news: After four years of going without a legally mandated budget, Harry Reid & Co. have finally offered a budget. The bad: Despite record high levels of tax receipts pouring into federal coffers right now, the Democratic blueprint continues to offer huge deficits, massive tax increases, and more “stimulus.” The GOP, however, has offered a budget that balances in 10 years.

President Obama, meanwhile, after having already gotten his tax increases, is back for more. He is allowing that he’d be OK with a balanced budget, in theory, as long as it isn’t done “on the backs” (his new favorite phrase) of the disabled, seniors, children, orphans, widows, students, etc.

So when will the current crop of Democrats finally decide to get responsible with federal spending? Judging by what they say and do, the answer is obvious.

Never.
