Well, they’ve finally figured out a way to commercialize Thanksgiving, and we’re all the worse off. Thanksgiving reminds us to be grateful for all God’s blessings. Black Friday, which now begins before the turkey has even been digested, teaches us to covet things we don’t need. The marketers herd us like cattle into the cold and dark in a never-ending quest to find our significance through stuff, and we go along with it because we’ve forgotten what really matters.
