Spite

The mainstream press continues to insinuate that Wheaton College wanted somehow to get rid of Prof. Hawkins and is therefore singling her out for unfair treatment. (I won’t bother to link to the articles.) Such people either are speaking out of ignorance, or spite (perhaps both). I’ll say it again: Terminating Prof. Hawkins is the last thing that the Wheaton admin. ever wanted to do. They wanted to keep talking, but she refused. There is great heartache over this on campus.
