Blessed

wedding-ring-clipart-k3189376Gentlemen,

The Bible says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.” If you have a wife who loves you and is committed to you and your family, do you know how incredibly blessed you are? Do you really? There are many lonely people who are better than you are who would love to be in your shoes.

No, she isn’t perfect–far from it … but neither are you. If you think you are being patient with her foibles and sins, remember that she is doing the same with you. In fact, she’s probably putting your meager efforts to shame. So be thankful, and tell her. Today.

And, as far as it depends on you, don’t even think of ending your marriage. If you tear apart your marriage, you’ll leave a gaping hole in your own soul. Your kids will never be able to look at you with the same respect.

Be a man, and lead. Work it out. The grass isn’t greener somewhere else. Rejoice in the woman God so graciously gave you, and do your best to live up to your responsibilities as the husband. Don’t depend on your feelings, but if you do what you can, don’t be surprised if the feelings start to come back.

We men need challenges. Fine; here’s yours. If you get everything else wrong in your life, get this one thing right. You know I’m right. Now do it.

— A friend.
