Getting to Know the Grandest Story of Them All

While Americans generally have a positive view of the Bible, more than half have read little or none of it.

Advent is one of the few seasons when Christianity is allowed out of its box in America. While here and there a few cranky atheists may pronounce a “Bah, humbug” on a manger scene, most of us perk up just a little as the fading gleam from the angel choir in Bethlehem warms our longing hearts. As the 19th century Scottish poet Alexander Smith said, “Christmas is the day that holds all time together.”
