Post-Election Post Mortem

Illinois voters decided they wanted four more years of corruption, debt, and incompetence by allowing the state legislature to remain in Democratic hands. They also appear to have approved of the incompetent Pat Quinn for governor. A big shout-out goes to all those “moderates” and “thoughtful” Democrats who couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Republican Bill Brady and instead opted for third- and fourth-party candidates. Gov. Quinn’s thank-you notes are in the mail. Congratulations, and enjoy your 33 percent tax hike.

On the national scene, Republicans won on a split-decision, taking the House but falling short in the Senate. They needed a knockout. President Obama, enjoy your $200-million-a-day junket to India with 3,000 of your closest friends. You’d better be rested when you come back. I don’t think your “enemies” are going to be content with the “back seat” any more.

I’ve participated in an Internet rumor about the costs of the president’s trip and apologize. See http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/india.asp.
