Pets Over People?

Barack Obama says Michael Vick deserves a second chance. I agree. Unless we are prepared to say cruelty to animals is the unforgivable sin, then he deserves as much a chance to start over as anyone else. If we cannot allow Vick a measure of social redemption for what he did to dogs, then why do convicted murderers and rapists get out of prison without a peep from the same people who are going ballistic over Vick today? Is it because they value the lives of pets over people?
