David Nicholas, 1931-2011

The Church Planting Network

It is with a heavy heart that we report that a little after 9:00 p.m. est., January 25th, David Nicholas went home to be with the Lord. It was his 52nd spiritual birthday, in the Lord.

Pastor Nicholas came along at a critical time in my young faith. His passion for sharing the gospel, and for training others to do so, will always stay with me, as will his Good News Song (“Why should you enter God’s kingdom today? You’ve tried to do your best, you say? …”).

Pastor Nicholas was an original thinker who was always trying something new. His emphasis on church planting was innovative and powerful.

Spanish River graciously helped support me and Christine for two years while I was in grad school studying missions, and Pastor Nicholas therefore has his rather large hands on anything I may have accomplished since then.

I expect this smiling, purposeful man of God is hearing his “Well done, good and faithful servant!” straight from the lips of Christ.
