Tiger Woods withdraws from Players after 9 holes
By DOUG FERGUSON, AP Golf Writer
Tiger Woods withdrew after nine holes at The Players Championship on Thursday because of leg injuries that sent him limping off the course toward a future that is murkier than ever.
Jack Nicklaus’s record of 18 victories in the majors looks more secure than ever. With the outstanding young pros now in the sport and with a rapidly aging Woods battling persistent injuries, getting there will be a monumental challenge, even for Tiger.
