Today, President Obama is expected to announce major reductions in the military, apparently the only program for which he can come up with real spending cuts. As always, Mr. Obama has impeccable timing, what with Iran threatening to close the Straits of Hormuz and North Korea causing major concern. Who needs a military that can respond to more than one crisis at a time, anyway? I’m sure the world’s despots will be glad to take a number, if we ask them nicely.
