The Republican National Convention was a showcase for the party’s deep bench: Ted Cruz, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Susana Martinez, Condi Rice, and on and on. Who are the Democrats scheduled to speak this week? Well, among others, Rahm Emanuel, the mayor of Chicago presiding over a horrific murder rate; and Gov. Pat Quinn, the titular (though not actual) head of Illinois, which has the worst finances in the nation. Don’t blame the Democrats for their shallow bench. It’s not their fault, after all. Rod Blagojevich was unavailable.
