Well, Vladimir Putin has thrown the amateurish Barack Obama a lifeline on Syria, pretty much erasing the president’s red line, cementing Bashar Assad’s hold on power (whom Mr. Obama earlier had said “must go”), and catapulting Russia into the catbird’s seat when it comes to the Middle East. Mr. Obama has made a habit of relying on unsavory characters to advance his political career (Tony Rezko, Rahm Emanuel, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, etc.). When a thug does you a favor, he always demands a payback … eventually. I wonder what Mr. Putin’s price will be?
