Humble

This is what happens:

– when a people chooses a succession of weak, inept, morally compromised leaders, thinking character really doesn’t matter;

– when it spends itself beyond bankruptcy, thinking that war is a relic of the past;

– when it forgets economic reality;

– when it ceases to believe in God;

– when hedonism becomes the highest pursuit;

– when basic morality is attacked on every side;

– when male and female are matters of opinion;

– when the church invests more in the City of Man than in the City of God;

– when citizen is set upon citizen;

– when generations are not educated in history or in the humanities;

– when knaves are honored and good people are mocked;

– when Bibles are unread and churches are empty;

– when a nation no longer believes in itself;

– when people invest more of themselves in fake worlds than in real ones;

– when they believe that all roads lead to heaven or imagine that heaven doesn’t exist;

– and when they flippantly use the name of Jesus as a swear word rather than as a prayer.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
