UN backs gay rights for first time ever

The United Nations endorsed the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people for the first time ever Friday, passing a resolution hailed as historic by the U.S. and other backers and decried by some African and Muslim countries.

While I oppose any kind of violence or belittling of the basic dignity of these core constituents of the Democratic Party, I must say: No matter how many gay rights resolutions are passed, it’s still wrong.
