Lights

Despite all the pomp and all the planning, the lights went out during last night’s Super Bowl, the biggest show in the world, putting the revelry on hold for 34 semi-dark minutes. Much as we might think otherwise, we are not in control of our threescore and ten on this earth. One day, as C.S. Lewis said, the house lights will come up, the Director will step onstage, and we will see whether what we have been living for passes the reality test.
