Fast-food workers today are demanding that their employers raise their hourly wage to $15, apparently oblivious to the basic economic fact that many of them will lose their jobs as a consequence, and that prices will have to rise, thereby wiping out any gains they might experience. Here’s an idea: Why not put as much effort into acquiring the experience and skills necessary to getting a job in which you will earn more than $15 an hour as you are doing trying to get a handout beyond what your current job is worth?
