Sarah Huckabee, a Trump spokesman and daughter of vocal Christian Mike Huckabee, is defending the president’s vicious Twitter rant by saying he’s “fighting fire with fire.”
I know it’s a bit unrealistic to expect Mr. Trump to live by the Sermon on the Mount, but there’s a whole lot of real estate between “fighting fire with fire” and turning the other cheek and loving your enemies.
It’s sad when Christians sell out their most dearly held principles for a bite at the political apple. When this is all over, however it ends, I expect that many believers will be chagrined indeed.
